Up Up and Away! A week of organizing the classroom is complete. Next on the list, 3 days of in-service and students on Thursday. This shall be interesting.
I am 31 yrs old. Originally from Minnesota and I live in Skagway, AK. For the last 10 years I have been guiding for Packer Expeditions in Skagway and performing the duties of operations manager for the last 5 years. In the winter I would work construction in Skagway if I was not traveling. Although my greater Alaska experiences have been limited thanks to the craziness of busy summers I have squeezed out 3 week long kayaking trips to Glacier Bay over the years and some fun Oct-Nov-Dec runs around the state. Including an Oct. drive to Prudoe Bay and riding the ferry system from Skagway to Kodiak Island, down to Bellingham, back to Skagway and most places in between. In Skagway I have been actively involved in local politics, I sit on the Board of Directors for our medical clinic, and I have made visits to the State and National Capitol to talk to lawmakers. The highlights of my travels abroad have been: Living with my friend’s family in a leaf thatch house on the Mekong Delta, VN; Collecting bird poop and roaming around in the jungles of the Manu Biosphere, Peru; Trekking to Everest Base Camp and Gokyo, Nepal; Biking across northern India; 14 freaky hours in Dhaka, Bangledesh.
